The Optimization Research Group welcomes two new staff members:

At the end of July, Chiara Cicolani began her postdoctoral position in the DFG-funded project “Particle Methods for Infinite-Dimensional Optimization.” Over the next two years, she will investigate on the theory of global optimization of functionals. The focus will be on methods that are both provably convergent and easy to implement. Applications include trajectory planning in robotics and the quantification of uncertainties.

Since early August, Daniel Graeveling has been strengthening our team as a Ph.D. student in the BMFTR-funded project “Froh.” He is working on the mathematical analysis of error propagation in robot-assisted surgery. The project focuses on developing an error analysis tool that will be used in robot-assisted surgeries to track deviations in real time and issue early warnings if necessary.

We look forward to working with them! Welcome to the team!
